KUALA LUMPUR: Long-serving MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu announced Tuesday that he would vacate the party top post "eight or nine months" before his current term expires in May 2012.
Making the much-awaited announcement at a press conference just before the Federal Territory MIC Convention here, the MIC supremo, who became party president in 1979, however, did not say who he would hand over the party leadership to.
