BUTTERWORTH: Pakatan Rakyat Youth will target rural voters and Felda settlers in Hulu Selangor to woo support for its candidate in the coming Hulu Selangor parliamentary seat by-election.
National PKR Youth vice-chairman Amiruddin Shaari said the two groups are considered Barisan Nasional’s strong supporters in the constituency.
“We have started working out the necessary strategies among Youth wings of Pakatan’s coalition parties, both at national and state levels,” Amiruddin said after participating in a ‘Generation for Change’ forum at a hotel in Seberang Jaya here yesterday.
Amiruddin, who is also Batu Caves state assemblyman, said PKR’s candidate to contest the by-election would be announced on Tuesday.
Asked if PKR’s candidate could be a Youth member, he said:
“If the candidate is young and is mature like an older person, that is not a problem for us but there would be a problem if the candidate is narrow-minded and has backward-thinking.”
