‘Firecrackers’ turn out to be gunshots

TAIPING: Two shots were fired in front of a Taiping municipal councillor’s house at Taman Kota West here early yesterday, but the family slept through the incident, thinking someone had set off firecrackers.

One of the 9mm bullets hit a window frame of the house belonging to the councillor Teoh Ah Bah. Teoh, who is also Bukit Gantang Gerakan division treasurer and works as a contractor, told reporters yesterday that he had ruled out the act as being politically or business-motivated.
