GEORGE TOWN: For nine days, beginning yesterday, Chinese Taoists in the country observed a strict vegetarian diet for the Nine Emperor Gods or the Kew Ong Yeah festival.
Crowds thronged gaily decorated stalls, here, which sold a wide array of vegetarian dishes, or prayer items in conjunction with the festival. Devotees also flocked to the temples to offer prayers and burned joss sticks.
