Abdullah to receive UUM award

KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will be presented Universiti Utara Malaysia’s (UUM) Mahaputra award at the university’s royal banquet here on Dec 12.

UUM vice-chancellor Tan Sri Dr Nordin Kardi told a press conference here Tuesday that the award was in recognition of Abdullah’s contributions when he was prime minister.

He said Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah of Kedah and Sultanah Kedah Tuanku Haminah Hamidun would be the guests-of-honour at the banquet. Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah is also the Chancellor of UUM.

Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Ali and Abdullah’s wife Tun Jeanne Abdullah would be among the VIP guests at the banquet held to mark the silver anniversary of UUM, he added. -- Bernama
