Gobind’s suspension unconstitutional, court told

KUALA LUMPUR: The one-year suspension of Puchong Member of Parliament (MP) Gobind Singh Deo, as well as of his renumeration, benefits and allowances, was unconstitutional and the Dewan Rakyat Speaker had no jurisdiction to do so, the High Court heard.

Gobind’s counsel, his father and veteran lawyer Karpal Singh, told Judicial Commisioner Mohd Ariff Mohd Yusof that the renumeration, benefits and allowances were an entitlement and not a privilege.
