KOTA KINABALU: Local social activist Jannie Lasimbang (pic) has been appointed as head of a United Na-tions group focusing on humans rights issues affecting indigenous communities.
She was elected chairperson-rapporteur at the second session of the UN Human Rights Councils Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP). EMRIP is a subsidiary of the UN Humans Rights Council.
