PETALING JAYA: The controversy over the appointment of a non-Indian to head the Indian Studies Department in Universiti Malaya will be handled by vice-chancellor Datuk Dr Ghauth Jasmon, said Higher Education Minister, Datuk Seri Mohd Khaled Nordin.
“One of the main reason in the Government amending the Universities and University Colleges Act is to allow the universities autonomous power to determine their development and future direction, with the ministry acting as a facilitator,” he said to mStar, The Star’s Malay news portal.
