PETALING JAYA: PAS has denied that pro-ISA man Mohd Khairul Azam Abdul Aziz is a member of the party.
But Mohd Khairul insists that he had submitted his membership form to the party headquarters in Jalan Raja Laut.
A high-ranking PAS officer confirmed that Mohd Khairul was never accepted into the Islamist party, adding that a press conference would be held today to clear the air.
Mohd Khairul was the only man to beat all odds to submit a pro-ISA memorandum to the guardhouse of Istana Negara on Saturday while anti-ISA protesters comprising mostly of PAS and PKR members struggled in vain to reach to the palace compound as they faced heavy resistance from security forces.
Mohd Khairul insisted that he had submitted the form at the party headquarters.
“At that time I was staying in Sungai Ramal, Kajang. So I applied to be a member there,’’ he said.
Mohd Khairul, who is also the Gerakan Graduan Melayu Muda (GGMM) president, said on Graduanmelayumuda.blogspot.com that his application was supported by PAS Youth central committee member Abdullah Abdul Karim.
“If PAS claims that I am not a member by technical default, I will resubmit my membership form.”
