TEOH Beng Hock’s obituary has listed his two-month pregnant fiancee Soh Cher Wei as his wife, China Press and Nanyang Siang Pau reported yesterday.
Soh, 28, has vowed to raise the unborn child of the political aide on her own.
Teoh was found dead on the 5th floor of Plaza Masalam in Shah Alam last Thursday after giving his statement to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC).
The dailies reported that Soh who was in advanced stage of planning the wedding had decided to settle down in Malacca after the wedding in October.
They were supposed to register their marriage last Friday.
Red ribbons that were placed at his house in preparation for the marriage registration were taken down and replaced by white cloth.
The Nirvana memorial park will be paying for the funeral expenses and providing a burial plot for Teoh whose funeral will be held today.
Teoh’s elder brother and sister had inspected the burial plot at the memorial park.
The daily also reported the couple was looking for wedding ring but could not find a suitable one and had planned to shop for it at Mid Valley Megamall.
Sin Chew Daily reported that Soh, who was dressed in white at Teoh’s house, had planned to apply for a three-month leave and return to her hometown in Batu Pahat after the funeral.
Soh, a teacher, said they have known each other for five years when Teoh was still a reporter with Sin Chew. They were housemates in Kajang and Teoh loved to cook for her.
It also said that an education fund for the baby was set up at the memorial service at the Serdang community hall on Saturday night.
It was organised by Teoh’s friends who collected about RM15,000.
Nanyang also reported that a corporate figure who is a Datuk in Perak had offered RM10,000 for information on Teoh’s death.
