KOTA KINABALU: A musical medley by a “bamboo orchestra” and prayers performed by the Kadazan-dusun high priestesses for the rice spirits showcased Sabah’s rich ethnic cultures and traditions at the closing of the state-level Kaamatan celebrations.
The orchestra played various traditional and modern tunes to thrill the audience, who also witnessed the traditional magavao or thanksgiving ceremony performed by the priestesses or Bobohizans to appease the padi spirits for a bountiful harvest.
