PETALING JAYA: Susan Boyle may be one of the hottest hits right now on YouTube as the “frumpy woman” with the “voice of an angel”.
But judging from the calls that have been pouring in, our own students are already showing that Malaysia has got talent too, rapping and rhyming to the tune of teenage angst on three-minute video clips.
The video element in this year’s Mag Inc 2009 is part of The Star and Pizza Hut’s Newspaper-in-Education contest themed “Teenage angst”.
Students are encouraged to create video clips that tackle issues which confront teenagers today. This is supplementary to a three-page mini-magazine on teenage problems ranging from puppy love, pre-marital sex to Net addiction and sibling rivalry.
Five lucky winners from the upper secondary category will walk away with scholarships worth RM100,000 from Taylor’s University College. Also in store are exciting prizes like trips to Sibu Island Resort and Genting Resort as well as Pizza Hut vouchers and sports equipment vouchers, each worth RM1,000, for six schools with the highest number of entries.
Online registration for the contest closes on April 30. For more information, check out our mini webpage. Go to our Education page on The StarOnline and click on our Mag Inc tile.
The contest is jointly sponsored by The Star and Pizza Hut in cooperation with the Education Ministry.
