CLUSTERS of supporters lobbied feverishly right up to five minutes before voting started at noon, bringing human traffic on every floor to a standstill.

Delegates and curious party onlookers had to push and shove their way through the packed corridors as crowd control went haywire. Rope barricades were ignored as supporters tried to squeeze in some last-minute campaigning.
