TEMERLOH: The line-up of Umno’s future leadership will not be influenced by money politics as claimed by many quarters, said party Youth chief Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.

He said the delegates are mature enough to choose leaders who can lead the party and the country.

Investigations by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on leaders and members would only make Umno stronger as members demand a clean and transparent leadership, he said.

“Nobody is above the law and cases of Umno members being investigated by the MACC is a normal process that has happened before.

“Despite that, we will remain as a family. We still need to meet the people and the members to hear their grouses,” he told reporters after chairing a meeting with state education department officers here yesterday.

Commenting on the issue of Umno members and leaders being investigated by the MACC for money politics, he said the party was gaining support from members who were demanding changes for the betterment of the party.
