KUALA PILAH: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) is stepping up its capabilities through the acquisition of 20 speed boats and three helicopters. Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Hasan Malek said the assets were necessary to beef up MMEA's monitoring and patrol of the country's territorial waters against piracy, smuggling and illegal immigrants, as well as for its search and rescue operations.
He said the speed boats would be bought from Turkey.
