Activist expected to be released today

JOHOR BARU: The female activist arrested for allegedly spreading false information concerning the demolition of a squatter colony in Kampung Baru Plentong Tengah is expected to be released after the police remand request was rejected Saturday.

The 26-year-old member of human rights group Suaram, who was picked up by police at about 10pm on Friday under Section 28 of the Internal Security Act (ISA), is expected to be released on police bail at about 10.45pm on Saturday.
