JOHOR BARU: A gynaecologist and a marketing officer claimed trial at the magistrate’s court here for being involved in a baby-for-sale racket.

Dr Robert Luk Tai Kong and Suleiman Salim, 46, are accused of being involved in the sale of a child named Mohamad Suleiman Ab Rahman at Sinova Clinic Medical Centre Sdn Bhd at Menara Landmark at 9am on Sept 23, 2005.

Dr Luk and Suleiman had allegedly acted as middlemen for the transaction between the biological and the adoptive parents.

Dr Luk was allegedly paid RM7,000 for his services while Suleiman was paid RM1,500.

Dr Luk, who was arrested in another baby-for-sale racket in May, has also been slapped with eight separate charges for cheating and falsifying documents in two Sessions Courts on June 16.

Magistrate Nor Shahid Abd Malik set bail at RM3,000 for each of the accused and fixed Jan 13 next year for mention.
