KOTA KINABALU: Sabah and Sarawak should demand a higher oil royalty of 25% from the current 5%, said former Sabah chief minister Datuk Harris Mohd Salleh.
In a letter dated Sept 2 to the chief ministers and assemblymen of both states, Harris said it was an opportune time for the state governments to pass a resolution in their respective legislative assemblies demanding the higher royalty effective Jan 1, 2009.
