RM50mil for heritage conservation not enough, say groups

THE RM50mil allocation for conservation works of heritage sites in Malacca and George Town announced by the Government is “non-substantive”, according to Penang Heritage Trust treasurer Lim Gaik Siang.

She said it would cost a whopping RM50,000 for each shophouse just to undergo roofing repairs and repainting.
