SANDAKAN: A prominent business grouping in this Sabah east coast district is insisting that the state government compel Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) to use an alternative fuel such as gas instead of coal for a proposed 300mW power plant there.
The Sandakan Chinese Chamber of Commerce said that the people - through 28 NGOs - have voiced their opposition to the coal power plant aimed at overcoming the electricity supply shortfall along the east coast.
