KUALA LUMPUR: Former Rural Development Ministry secretary-general Datuk Dr Abdul Aziz Muhamad who was convicted in 2005 for abetment in criminal breach of trust was a scapegoat, his lawyer argued during an appeal at the High Court.

“He was made a scapegoat when he was only a government representative who carried out his job in complete transparency,” lawyer Sashi Menon submitted during the appeal against the decision of a Sessions Court to sentence Dr Abdul Aziz to five years’ jail for each of the two charges he faced.
