PETALING JAYA: Speculation that the controversial Lahad Datu coal-fired power plant in Silam, Sabah, might not have been scrapped, despite an announcement to that effect, was put to rest yesterday after the Department of Environment discontinued the environmental public review process.
On April 2, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Musa Aman scrapped the controversial project citing environmental concerns and told Sabah Electric Sdn Bhd, the project developer, to look for an alternative site or energy source.
