PETALING JAYA: A network of Regional Tsunami Watch Providers for the Indian Ocean is expected to be established by 2010 or 2011 after standard operating procedures and cross-border issues are ironed out.
Malaysian Meteorological Department director-general Dr Yap Kok Seng said that the Intergovernmental Coordination Group for the Indian Ocean Tsunami Warning and Mitigation System has targeted that period to set up a warning system within the Indian Ocean region.
