KOTA BARU: Voters in Kelantan have no reason to reject PAS governance as the party had upheld religion and democracy, said Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat.

“There is no reason for the voters, be it Malays or Chinese, to reject PAS,” he said.

“So the new Kelantan is the PAS’ Kelantan. If Umno takes it back, then it goes back to becoming the old Kelantan,” said the PAS spiritual adviser in reference to Kelantan Barisan’s manifesto Kelantan maju, Kelantan Baru.

Barisan ruled Kelantan from 1978 to 1989. PAS held the the state from 1959 to 1977 and since 1990.

On the issue of phantom and repeat voters, Nik Aziz regretted the decision to cancel the plan to use indelible ink.

Pengundi hantu atau iblis (phantom or devil voters), I urge them to vote for the Bulan (moon, the PAS symbol),” he said.

Asked about the state’s economy, Nik Aziz said it was developing as big investors, such as KB Mall and Tesco, were here.

“Why would they invest in Kelantan if our economy was no good?” he asked.

On the state’s debt, Nik Aziz said federal loans were being paid back.

“Which state does not have debts? But we pay back.”
