KAJANG: A man, believed to be the one of the remaining members of the notorious Berong gang, was shot dead by police at Bandar Teknologi Kajang here last night.
The 37-year-old man had tried to attack police with a parang when they blocked his car at 11.35pm.
Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm II Mazlan Mansor said the Indonesian with permanent residence status was the right hand man of the notorious gang leader.
The gang members, who preyed on people who withdraw large amounts from banks, were responsible for more than 40 robbery cases in the Klang Valley since 2006.
The gang members went into hiding after police shot dead their leader at Bandar Sri Damansara on Jan 28.
