PETALING JAYA: A whopping RM16.2bil was spent to subsidise petrol, diesel and gas prices in 2007 to ensure the people did not have to bear the full brunt of global price increases.
The Barisan Nasional manifesto states that another RM18bil went for gas for industry and electricity generation and RM9.2bil was allocated for subsidies including fertilisers, toll and tuition vouchers in 2007.
