ALOR STAR: Kelantan does not need Umno’s “healing services”, Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat said.

The state has enough hospitals and clinics to attend to ailments, he said.

“But if Umno is coming to heal the body and soul, it can’t do that. Because only the prophets can do that,” he said at a political rally at the Kedah PAS headquarters in Kota Sarang Semut, near here, on Saturday night.

Nik Aziz said this in response to Barisan Nasional’s Merawat Kelantan (Healing Kelantan) battle cry to recapture Kelantan.

On Friday, Barisan deputy chairman Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had said the time has come to treat “illnesses” that hindered development.

Nik Aziz said development in Kelantan had never stopped since PAS took control of the state 18 years ago.

“Every two weeks, the state executive council approves or rejects hundreds of working papers.

“It is the responsibility of the leader to ensure there is development,” he said.

Nik Aziz also said there was no racial animosity in Kelantan.

“The other day I was invited to a Chinese New Year celebration. I was pleasantly surprised to see some non-Malays wearing T-shirts bearing the PAS logo,” he said.
