PONTIAN: The people of Pekan Nenas will give their full support to MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting as he has made their welfare a priority.

Factory worker Tan You Hua, 55, said he would support Ong and the Barisan Nasional in the upcoming general election.

“His 17-year stint as Tanjung Piai MP has brought a lot of development. He has always acted on the people’s complaints and needs,” he said, adding that Ong was a good leader.

Retiree Boon Siang Kan, 67, said he was satisfied with Ong’s leadership and could find few faults with it.

“There is no better leader to take care of us than him (Ong),” he said.

Meanwhile, 32-year-old businessman David Hoon said Ong’s emphasis on education had helped many children in the area achieve success.

“The tuition classes initiated by Ong helped me and the other students a lot. He is truly a remarkable leader,” he said.

Ong, when launching the Chinese New Year Carnival in Pekan Nenas on Sunday, said he had done his best for the people of the area, especially those in Pekan Nenas.

“All the development and prosperity would not be possible without the team I have placed here.

“Besides infrastructure development, we have also addressed and acted upon the people’s needs,” he said.

He added that Pekan Nenas assemblyman Wee Jeck Seng should also be praised for his contribution to the people.
