IPOH: Initial screening of fresh meat and seafood sold at a hypermarket here showed traces of sulphur dioxide, a preservative that is only allowed in manufactured food.
The screening, conducted Monday at the launch of a state-level operation to check the safety of food sold in outlets here called Ops Shu (rat in Chinese to signify the Year of the Rat), was jointly held by the Perak Health Department, state Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Department and the Ipoh City Council.
