PUTRAJAYA: The Government has given the green light for the Immigration Department to employ an additional 3,800 people as enforcement officers to weed out illegal immigrants.
Immigrations enforcement director Datuk Ishak Mohammed said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is chairman of Cabinet Committee on Foreign Workers, had approved the additional employment as the Government viewed illegal immigrants as a second threat to the nation’s security after drug abuse.
