Fu: 2,300 qualify for parole next year

SOME 2,300 prison inmates will be eligible for parole next year, Deputy Minister Datuk Fu Ah Kiow said. 

Fu said 3,000 would be eligible in 2009 and 3,500 the following year but it was up to the Parole Board to decide whether they would be given parole.
