PUTRAJAYA: The Road Safety Department (JKJR) will recommend to the Cabinet Committee on Road Safety the compulsory use of seat belts by rear seat passengers in vehicles, its director-general Datuk Suret Singh said yesterday.
He said the proposal would be made based on a recent study by the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety (Miros) which revealed that the wearing of safety belts by rear seat passengers could reduce the risk of injuries in accidents.
