THE death sentence will not be imposed on juvenile offenders to comply with the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), of which Malaysia is a signatory.
Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said the Child Act 2001 would be reviewed to plug shortcomings involving juvenile criminal cases and to ensure the country adheres to the CRC, which Malaysia ratified in 1995.
