FOREIGN Affairs parliamentary secretary Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek chided Seputeh MP Teresa Kok for being absent when he answered her question.

Kok wanted to know whether Malaysia would ratify the International Covenant on Civil and Political Right and the International Covenant on Economic and Cultural Rights as proposed by Suhakam.

“I was prepared to answer and take her supplementary question. Is attending Parliament not her priority?” he asked.

He said the opposition always complained about the poor attendance of Barisan Nasional MPs.

Kok, who showed up at 11.30am when the question-and-answer session was over, told Ahmad Shabery that she did not know her question was up in the list.

On Monday, 13 questions were skipped as many MPs and executives were absent, prompting Speaker Tan Sri Ramli Ngah Talib to remind all to take the session seriously.
