KOTA KINABALU: The state government is keen to see the environmental effects of the disused Mamut copper mine in Ranau, at the foothills of Mount Kinabalu, resolved.
It is determined to tackle the concerns that have surfaced, including highly acidic residues that pollute the rivers and the threats of landslides at the pit wall as well as objections raised by local residents to a proposal to open a new mine in the area.
