KUANTAN: The body of a fisherman reported missing three days ago after he was believed to have fallen off a boat, was found 15 nautical miles from Batu Kuai waters off Balok here on Saturday.

According to the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency eastern regional enforcement head First Admiral Datuk Ismail Hamzah, swift currents were believed to have swept the body of Idzeran Idris, 24, to the area.

“The sea was rather choppy and the wind was strong for the last three days.

“The body was found at 10am by KD Segantang, one of two patrol vessels deployed in the three-day search and rescue operation,” he told reporters at his office here yesterday.

Idzeran, from Kampung Tanjung Lumpur left the village jetty at about 10pm on Wednesday together with four friends.

It was only four hours later, however, that Idzeran’s friends realised that he was missing. They lodged a report at the Beserah police station at 6am the next day.
