SUNGAI PETANI: The body of a fisherman who was swept overboard on Saturday has been found some 5km away.
Fishermen from Kota Kuala Muda in Seberang Prai found Zakaria Abdul Rahman, 56, at 7am yesterday.
Azizah Abdul Hamid, from Kampung Tepi Sungai in Kota Kuala Muda, fainted when she saw her husband’s body being brought back at 8am.
His four grief-stricken children Mohd Khairi, 28, Hasbullah, 24, Nor Adilah, 20, and Mohd Farhan, 15, were also present.
Scores of villagers, most of whom are fishermen, later gathered at the deceased’s house to organise his funeral at the Muslim cemetery in Kampung Mesjid in Kota Kuala Muda at noon.
Zakaria was swept overboard as he was returning from a fishing trip at 10.30am on Saturday.
