KOTA KINABALU: A scheme to economically transform one of the nation’s worst poverty stricken regions is already benefiting dozens of hardcore poor people even before its launch by the Prime Minister on Saturday.
Some 280 people in the Sabah’s northern island of Banggi, who used to earn less than RM300 a month from fishing, are already earning nearly double that due to their involvement in the preliminary work of an ambitious project there.
