Ex-officer’s wife hurt during robbery

PETALING JAYA: The wife of former police logistics director Datuk Ali Hanafiah Hashim was slashed in the hand by robbers after she refused to surrender her handbag in Damansara Perdana here. 

The Datin, in her 50s, was in a Proton Perdana with her daughter while Ali went into a bank at PJU8. 

Three men approached the car, smashed the rear window and demanded that the Datin hand over her handbag but she refused. 

One of the suspects slashed her hand and grabbed the containing RM6,000.  

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mazlan Mansor confirmed the incident. 

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old youth died a day after he was assaulted by a group of men. 

Waled Harun, from Sabah, was rushed to the Serdang Hospital after he was assaulted near The Mines shopping complex on Thursday. 

It is learnt that a misunderstanding took place between him and the group after he allegedly stared at them while they were in the shopping complex. 

In the 10.45pm incident, 10 men surrounded Waled and two of his friends on their way back to their house in Taman Sungai Besi Indah in Serdang. 

Sources said Waled and his friends tried to flee but the suspects assaulted them. 

Waled suffered severe head and body injuries. 

Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Zainal Rashid Abu Bakar confirmed the incident.
