MIRI: A family in Batu Niah, about 120km from here, was shocked when someone fired shots at their home in the wee hours of the morning.

They became more horrified when they saw a blood-soaked severed head of a pig on top of the bonnet of the family’s four-wheel-drive vehicle outside the house.

It was enough to send chills down their spines, as this sort of macabre display is often associated with black-magic rituals or animistic practices.

Worse, there were also notes –in two languages – containing explicit death threats.

The frightened family, believed to be business folk, lodged a report at the Batu Niah police station after making the gruesome discoveries in the compound of their house shortly before dawn yesterday.

It is learnt that the head of the household and his wife lodged the report, which claimed that they were awakened by the sound of gunshots just outside their double-storey house in the morning.

When they got out of the house, they found the walls of the porch punctured by bullet holes.

On top of their four-wheel-drive vehicle was a bloody stump. It was the decapitated head of a pig. Neatly placed nearby were the pieces of threatening notes.

Police have taken statements from the family members.
