SEREMBAN: Police have identified a suspect in the murder of an unemployed man and his seven-month pregnant wife in Taman Desa Anggerik here.
Acting on public information, a police team went to the suspect’s house but could not locate him. It is understood that attempts to contact him over his mobile phone were also futile.
Syed Herie Azimi Syed Kassim, 24, and Aniza Ayob, 23, were found dead in their home by two of Syed Herie’s friends on Monday afternoon. They had gone to his house after failing to contact him since Saturday morning.
One of the friends informed police that Syed Herie had an argument with a caller on his mobile phone just before he left for home on Saturday.
When contacted, state CID chief Asst Comm Huzir Mohamed said police found Syed Herie’s car, a black Satria, in Labu some 16km from here.
A source said police had not ruled out the possibility that it was a crime of passion.
Syed Herie had eight stab wounds on his chest while his wife, an employee with the National Registration Department here, was stabbed in the neck.
Family members, when met at the Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital mortuary yesterday, expressed shock over the murders.
“Both Aniza and Syed Herie were close to the family. In fact, they made it a point to visit my sick mother in Kuala Pilah during the weekends despite Aniza’s condition,” said Aniza’s 26-year-old brother Azial, who works in a factory in Nilai.
