KUALA LUMPUR: The National Fatwa Council has ruled that the “thoracic sticking” method of slaughtering livestock, as used in New Zealand, is allowed and that meat from these animals is halal, subject to stipulated conditions.
Veterinary services director-general Datuk Dr Abdul Aziz Jamaluddin said the council made the decision at its meeting on Sept 29 last year.
