Win leaves accountant stunned

KUALA LUMPUR: “I am just trying my luck, I never get lucky with contests,” she said as she submitted her entry for CIMB Bank’s Dream Home contest.

To her stunned surprise, she got lucky. Accountant Bahariah Bakar, 47, received a call from the bank’s representative informing her that she was the grand prize-winner for the contest.

The speechless mother of two was a very happy woman when told that she had just won herself a home makeover package worth RM100,000, a RM10,000 holiday voucher, RM5,000 and free home loan instalments for three years.

The contest, which started in September last year, required customers to answer only one simple question and write a creative slogan, and Bahariah’s was: “My dream home should be moderately spacious, exclusively furnished, yet cosy, with serene tropical landscape.”

Bahariah said she was happy and really excited, as she never imagined winning such a luxurious prize.

“Now I hope just like my slogan, the interior decorator Corey Ang will add his ‘magical touch’ and transform my double-storey terrace house into the dream home that I had been visualising all these years,” she said after the prize presentation ceremony held at Seni Reka Nobel Sdn Bhd in Bangsar yesterday.

The top three winners received their prizes from CIMB Bank head of retail banking Peter England. Also present was CIMB Bank head of retail lending Basharuddin Abdul Wahid.

The second prize went to Lim Choon Lay, while Hing Kui Met @ Susan Hing bagged the third prize.
