JOHOR BARU: Let the festive music play on freely in associations and restaurants, too. This is the opinion of Malaysian Indian Business Association president P. Sivakumar, in reaction to a report that small businesses are exempted from paying royalties for playing all types of songs, including festive songs.
Sivakumar said the exemption, which covers hawkers, taxi drivers, clan associations, religious bodies or places of worship and political parties, should be widened to include other voluntary or non-governmental organisations.
