PENANG: Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) will install a remote meter-reading device at the premises of 60,000 high-power consumers nationwide to help detect power thefts.
TNB operations senior general manager Azman Mohd said the device, which uses a modem and mobile phone SIM card to relay data on the users’ electricity consumption to the power company, could monitor the daily consumption of high-voltage users and profile their energy use.
