MALACCA: Although Malaysians are now used to eating yu sheng (raw fish salad) before Chinese New Year, the dish was traditionally only eaten on the seventh day of the celebration.
Sinologist Lai Kuan Fook said the Chinese regarded the seventh day, which was yesterday, as everyone's birthday.
