CYBERJAYA: The Fire and Rescue Services Department will put in a request for an extra RM300mil – on top of the RM430mil financial allocation it already received under the Ninth Malaysian Plan – to buy more equipment such as boats and a hovercraft.

Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting said if the recent massive floods in Johor and Malacca were an indication of things to come, the department would have to ready itself to face more challenges in the future due to global warming.
