MASTER of the art of flower arranging and chef extraordinaire, Lim Bian Yam, the Penang Heritage Trust’s 2005 Living Heritage Award recipient, certainly broke with tradition when it came to choosing his career.

Much has been written about the charming 74-year-old's impressive achievements (he is, after all, the recipient of a long list of accolades including the International Order of Merit from The International Biographical Centre in England, the Shield of Valour from the American Biographical Institute in North Carolina and the 2005 Hong Kong Flower Show First Prize Medal) but few have had the privilege of getting up close and personal with the candid bachelor.
