BUTTERWORTH: A driver and three Indonesians were charged in a Sessions Court here with robbing a chemical company of 32 tonnes of zinc ingots worth RM561,000.
Mohd Zahili Ayob, 34, who works for a concrete mixer company, and Irpan, 27, Saepul Saluri, 22, and Murki Drasad, 30, were charged with several others still at large under Section 395 of the Penal Code.
The three pleaded guilty to the charge and the judge fixed Feb 14 for sentencing.
Mohd Zahili pleaded not guilty and posted bail of RM25,000.
His bail was originally set at RM50,000 by Deputy Public Prosecutor Janariah Abd Muthalib but judge Julie Lack Abdullah reduced it to RM25,000, following an appeal by counsel Eddy Kwang.
The case will be mentioned on March 5.
Mohd Zahili, from Bukit Mertajam, and the three allegedly committed the crime at Kong Long Huat Chemical Sdn Bhd, Valdor Industrial Estate, at 3.30am on Jan 25.
The 32 tonnes of zinc ingots belonged to Thor Pin Wah from Jalan Paya Terubong, Bayan Lepas.
At a Jawi magistrate's court, businessmen Quah Tsoo Tian and E. Sri Shanmuganathan were charged with concealment and disposal of the stolen zinc ingots.
They were alleged to have committed the offence at 9.10pm in GM Metal Sdn Bhd, Lorong Perusahaan Baru, Prai.
Quah, from Balik Pulau, and Sri Shanmuganathan, from Taman Indrawasih, pleaded not guilty.
Judge Nor Aini Yusof set bail at RM8,000. Both Quah and Sri Shanmuganathan posted bail.
