JOHOR BARU: Armed with nets, torches and cages, state Wildlife Department (Perhilitan) officials conducted a midnight raid at the popular Saleng Zoo and confiscated eight protected wild animals after the zoo operators allegedly failed to produce the proper permits.
The 16 Perhilitan officials seized three bear cats (binturong), two Malay civet cats (musang tenggalung), a silver leaf monkey (lotong), a baby tapir and a masked palm civet (musang lamri) during the raid at the private zoo, about 30km from here yesterday.
